Entrepreneurial Chartered Professional Accountants of Calgary

President's Message

I am honored to be on the board of the Entrepreneurial Chartered Professional Accountants of Calgary (ECPAC) and to serve as your President in 2018.

The organization has a rich history of providing educational, networking and advocacy opportunities to its members. We, on the executive board, are committed to carrying on the good work of the organization and have these goals in mind for 2018:

1.  Ensuring we have relevant and timely educational presentations in the areas of:

  • Accounting
  • Taxation
  • Business consulting
  • Practice Management

We welcome your suggestions for topics that would be of interest to our membership.

2.  Providing networking opportunities:

  • At each meeting our round table format affords an opportunity for you to visit with your fellow attendees and build your network.
  • You will likely be interested in obtaining contact information from our presenters so you have a resource for your clients.
  • We are looking to include sessions for round table discussion – typically on best practices – this can be a great opportunity to learn from each other.

3.  Expanding our ranks – while we have a solid membership the board has a goal to increase our membership as we know there are many fellow accountants out there that would benefit from our organization and we in turn will benefit from their participation. Please help by passing along the invite to your colleagues.

Looking forward to a very productive 2018!

Best regards,

Bill Minor, CPA CGA

Brief History

ECPA was formed in 2016 by the merger of the three separate public practice groups of Calgary and Area CMAs in Public Practice, Entrepreneurial Chartered Accountants of Calgary and CGA Public Practice.

Part of the mandate of all three groups has always been to create a mutually-beneficial relationship with the governing accounting bodies, which is now just one body - CPA Alberta.  Through our efforts with the CPA Alberta, we hope to enhance their understanding of the concerns and issues of the smaller CPA firms.  We also hope to develop an avenue for CPA Alberta to share best practice information with smaller CPA firms so that we all serve our clients in the best way possible.
