Are We Fair Yet? - Overview of Private Corporation Tax Proposals
Anthony Strawson and Andrew Bateman examine the recent controversial proposals from the federal government.
Anthony's is a partner of Felesky Flynn LLP in Calgary, where his practice covers a wide array of taxation law matters including personal and corporate tax issues. Anthony is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School where he was awarded the National Tax Award as well as prizes for the highest academic standing in both Taxation Law and Taxation of Business Enterprises. Anthony has written and spoken on numerous taxation law matters including for the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society and the Canadian Bar Association and is a former sessional instructor of taxation law at the University of Calgary.
Andrew’s practice covers a broad spectrum of taxation law, including diverse areas such as public and private corporation transactions, family law tax issues, tax dispute resolution and litigation, trust and estate taxation, First Nation taxation and goods and services tax.
He is a frequent speaker and writer, with contributions to, among others, the Canadian Tax Journal, Legal Education Society of Alberta, Canadian Bar Association, Banff CA Small Practitioners Forum and the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law. Andrew received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1998, and worked for a number of years in managerial and executive roles in the franchise industry. In 2006, Andrew graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary and received several tax law academic awards, including the Stikeman Elliott-Carswell National Tax Award. Andrew joined Felesky Flynn in 2007 after commencing his legal career with a large national law firm.
