A New Approach to Achieve Successful Family Wealth Transitions

Our speaker this month is Cindy Radu of BDO Canada. She will explore a new approach to achieving successful family wealth transitions through a case study and interactive dialogue.

Traditional approaches to family wealth transition planning focus on tactics (e.g. estate freeze and insurance), rather than an overall strategy that involves input from all family members who will be impacted. Advisors largely work in their own silo of expertise with a transactional focus. While estate freeze and insurance strategies are sound (only 3% cause of breakdown), they do not develop positive family communication and enhance trust.

As a designated Family Enterprise Advisor, Cindy helps individuals, family enterprises, business owners and family offices navigate the complexities and opportunities that come with wealth. Cindy draws on over 25 years of legal, fiduciary, trust and governance experience in professional services firms, financial institutions and family offices in her practice. She uses her skills to provide an objective perspective and facilitate understanding of how complex family, business and ownership structures can impact family dynamics and family wealth continuity.
