The “YOU” in Office Ergonomics
New for AGM 2018, we have invited a guest speaker to inform you about how to spend a better day in front of your computer!
Most often “Ergonomics” is associated with the “equipment” that we use to do our job. But really, the equipment that we work with in our office setting is only a part of the “Ergonomic Picture”. Come and learn how “You” play a key role in keeping yourself injury free in your office work environment.
Learn what neutral postures are so that “You” can set your office equipment up effectively to reduce stress on your body. Find out some of the newest research and learn which of “Your” work habits could lead to musculoskeletal problems. Join in for this informative Lunch and Learn session.
Presented by Physiotherapist/Ergonomic Consultant Karen Martino B.Sc. PT.
Karen has a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy from the Univ. of Toronto and a Certification in Occupational Health and Safety from the Univ. of Alberta. Karen spent 14 years actively treating musculoskeletal issues in a clinical setting at THE Downtown Sports Clinic in Calgary.
As a clinical physiotherapist Karen often found that successful treatment outcomes of clients with work related issues were hampered by poor work positions, improper use of equipment and poor work habits.
In 2003, Karen’s interest in getting to the root cause of her clients’ problems took her out of the “clinic” and into the “office” environment.
Over the past 15 years Karen has worked in the field of ergonomics, conducting both office and industrial assessments and delivering educational seminars in her attempt to reduce the incidence of work-related musculoskeletal injuries and empower people with information they can use to help themselves.
